Most media outlets have a cogent policy on when to include details of a suspect’s race as part of crime reporting, basically allowing it when race adds to other details of a suspect’s description, such as height, gender, scarring or other body markings,  and so on. Yet efforts exist to suppress even this kind of reporting.
